Wandered around through the Bairro Alto and Chiado neighborhoods last night.
Walked along Ave. Da Liberdade which is Lisbon's equivalent of 5th Ave.
Mastered the Lisbon subway system in under 1 minute. Yet another city with an easier subway system than New York. The direction of the subway is clearly marked. No walking around singing "The Bronx is up and the Battery down" to figure out which platform to stand on.
They also have these cute funiculars to carry you up some of the steep hills.
The only problem with the funiculars is that they are popular with the tourists... the European tourists... so the inside stunk with BO. Sometimes I do miss the United States.
Went inside the Sao Roque church. A Jesuit Church. 16th century.
The chapel of St John the Baptist in the church was built in Rome, held one papal mass and then was disassembled and shipped to Lisbon. Per square inch, it is the most costly chapel ever constructed in Portugal.
There is also a chapel with creepy babies.
Today, I'll be strolling through some additional Lisbon neighborhoods.
